What is your favorite program or service offering that Sonoma CAN provides and why?
My favorite Sonoma CAN program is the Housing Advocacy and Community Engagement work that helps ensure everyone has a voice in decisions that impact their lives. As someone who works in housing and homelessness services, I see firsthand how important it is for residents to be informed, connected, and empowered. Sonoma CAN’s ability to bring people together around issues that affect the community creates meaningful and lasting change.
Sonoma CAN has been in Sonoma County for over 55 years. How do you envision the organization serving the community for the next 55 years? Where do you want to see our energies and resources go?
I envision Sonoma CAN continuing to be a trusted community leader that brings people together to address the most pressing challenges facing Sonoma County. I would love to see the organization invest in developing future community leaders, increasing civic engagement, supporting housing stability, strengthening economic opportunities for working families, and ensuring that all residents have access to resources that help them thrive. As our community evolves, Sonoma CAN can continue to be a bridge between residents, service providers, businesses, and local government to create collaborative solutions.
What is your favorite Sonoma County gem (a restaurant, park, hike, store, event, etc.) that you enjoy with friends and family?
One of my favorite Sonoma County gems is the Spring Lake Regional Park. Whether it’s walking the trails, spending time by the lake, or simply enjoying the beauty of Sonoma County, it’s a place where I can relax and reconnect with family and friends. It reminds me how fortunate we are to live in a community with such incredible natural spaces.
How did you hear about Sonoma CAN and what made you want to join the board?
I first learned about Sonoma CAN through my involvement in the nonprofit and community services sector. Throughout my work supporting individuals and families experiencing housing instability and other challenges, I became familiar with Sonoma CAN’s longstanding commitment to advocacy, community engagement, and improving the quality of life for Sonoma County residents. I wanted to join the board because I believe in the organization’s mission and wanted an opportunity to contribute my professional experience, lived experience, and passion for community service to help strengthen and expand its impact for future generations.
