Become a Sonoma CAN Champion on Giving Tuesday!

Dear Sonoma CAN Friend,

This year, the community of Sonoma County has faced challenges that test the limits of family budgets and essential services. But through it all, there has been one constant: the unwavering resilience of our neighbors and the power of your compassion. At Sonoma Community Action Network (Sonoma CAN), our goal has been to deliver solutions that empower people to achieve genuine, lasting self-sufficiency.

The Story of Connection: a Difference You Made

I want to tell you about Maria.

When Maria and her children first came to us, they were in crisis. Maria was escaping a dangerous situation and was trying to find a safe place for herself and her two children. Her children were quiet and withdrawn. She needed a safe place to live and the help to be able to support herself and her children.

Because of friends like you, Maria was able to be provided with safe, temporary housing and was able to work with her case manager to create a plan for success. She was provided resources to support her children and was able to get career counseling to secure stable employment and a permanent place to live. In time, her children blossomed from being in a calm, safe environment. Their story is a powerful example of the two-generation change that is possible when the community steps up.

While we celebrate these victories, the pathway to stability is often fragile. This year, we have felt the deep impact of external volatility-from federal funding challenges to necessary budget constraints that threaten the core programs our families depend on.

We have responded with adaptability and strategic planning, ensuring no family is left behind. But to maintain this resilience and protect critical services like Head Start and our Family Resource Centers during times of unexpected strain, we rely on the flexibility that local support provides.

Your donation is not just a gift: it is a shield against uncertainty. It is the local, steady funding that allows us to commit to families like Maria’s for the long haul.

Will you Complete the Story?

As we close out the year, we are asking you to make an investment in the foundational strength of Sonoma County. Your gift directly translates into these tangible, life-changing outcomes:

  • $75 – provides a week of nutritious meals and learning materials for a child in Head Start.
  • $150 – funds a mental health session to help navigate trauma and build resiliency.

  • $500 – allows a classroom to remain operational during an unexpected funding delay.

P.S. Become a Sonoma CAN Champion on Giving Tuesday!

This Giving Tuesday and through the holiday season, every dollar you give to Sonoma CAN will be channeled directly into building this foundation of hope and opportunity. Help us ensure that every family in Sonoma County has the support they need to write their own success story.

You are HERO in the story of Sonoma CAN.
